It’s been quite a while since we’ve mentioned anything about Jack. It’s not that he’s not on our minds (or our bladder, spine or cervix), but we’ve just been mightily busy raising one child and trying to move house as well.
In the past month, despite Martina being over 8 months pregnant, we moved house to give ourselves much more room and to be closer to family. The house was much dirtier than ever anticipated and needed a lot of work to get it to be livable, so we’ve spent all of our spare time in the past few weeks painting, fixing, cleaning and arranging. We’re just about there now.
What still remains is to finish Jack’s room. As it stands, his room is bare and needs a lot of work. Knowing that he wouldn’t need the room for a couple of months, we focused our attention everywhere else in the house, so we’ve still got a few days’ of work to do there. We’re thrilled with how Ellie’s room came out, so we’re excited to see Jack’s room come together as well.
The “expected date” is fast approaching now though. We’re only about 3 weeks away and Martina and her midwife both think that he could well come a little early. Marti’s been having some fairly consistent contractions over the past couple of weeks, in part owing to the hard work she’s been putting in at the house, but even now with her “resting” (looking after a nearly-2-year-old is far from rest), she’s still getting these contractions.
With so much going on, it’s hard to really get our heads around his arrival. Soon enough though, we won’t be able to ignore it.
