We’ve got quite a few pictures recently of Jack wearing fun glasses which make for really bold photos using the new ultra-wide lenses on the iPhone 11 Pros. Here’s a little sample of how great they look.

A hike to find flowers in the Columbia River Gorge
We have certainly loved our move to Portland, OR and in that process, we have sought to get outside and explore as often as we can. So when a nice spring day came along, we jumped at the opportunity to get out of the house and try and see the early fruits of spring.
We took a little hike at Tom McCall Nature Preserve to see the wildflowers that were starting to bloom and the kids loved it. They love getting outside and exploring, and they do modest hikes and enjoy it. I don’t push them and we just go as far as we can before they start getting bored or crabby and then we turn back.

While Ellie was doing gymnastics on Wednesday afternoons this spring, Jack would come along with me. Only this time, Jack got swapped out for Superman.

Having an older sister often means that Jack is subjected, or chooses to, try out his sister‘s accessories and clothes.
He thinks nothing of trying on Ellie’s tutus, sunglasses and hair bows and in many cases, I think that he thinks he wears them better than she does. We can’t disagree to be honest.

Perhaps the biggest event of this year so far has been a visit from Aunty Shelly and Granny. They came in the middle of September to see our new home in Oregon and spend some time Jack and Ellie, which they haven’t done since June 2016.
Well, we didn’t waste any time. Since Ellie had started school, Jack got to spend some special one-on-one time with Granny and Shelly. We did a fair amount of wine tasting, exploring Portland, activities like bowling and eating out.
We also did a hike up Beacon Rock, which Jack impressively managed all by himself.
Then there was a trip to the beach, where Jack was flying his Spidey kite and encouraging him to go higher and higher (see the video below).

January – March 2018
As we came out of our December sickness into the new year, we spent a fair amount of time cosied up indoors. We didn’t let that stop us though, and we made sure to get out for the Portland Winter Light Festival. Continue reading “January – March 2018”
Big Truck Day
We live in such a cool place. The local government puts on a Big Truck Day every year, where kids get to tour and sit in all sorts of big trucks, like cranes, dump trucks, fire trucks, garbage trucks and 18-wheelers. Jack was in Heaven!

April – June 2017
So much are we loving life in Oregon that we haven’t stopped for an hour or more to be able to put up a few pictures. But with Martina away for the weekend and winter setting in, I’m taking the opportunity to catch up.
Here’s a variety of photos from April to June this year. Continue reading “April – June 2017”
February – April 2017
As was the case in January, it’s been a bit manic lately with our move to Portland, so we haven’t had much time to do updates on the website here.
But, rather than deprive you all of Jack’s cuteness, here’s another little compilation from the last couple of months. Continue reading “February – April 2017”
January 2017
With our move to Portland coming up very quickly, we’ve had little time to update the site of late. So, rather than neglect to provide an update, I figured I’d do a quick compilation of the best pictures of Jack that we have from the past month.
