It’s been a few days since I last posted an update, but that’s because it’s quite a busy job parenting two children! Also, I went back to work this week, though I’m starting off with half days to ease back into things.
Last night, Jack officially turned 1 week old. It’s been a long week as we’ve been adjusting to life with children and getting used to waking up throughout the night again, but it’s been a blessing all the same. Continue reading “Jack’s 1-week picture”
Jack was born in the beauty and calm of his own home at 7.05pm on 5/5/15. Martina did an amazing job and both she and Jack are perfectly healthy. He weighed 9lbs 11oz and measured 24 ¼” long.
If you wish to stay up-to-date with Jack’s development, there’s a little sign-up field in the sidebar, which will allow you to receive a brief email when new updates are posted.
If you wish to visit us or Jack, please get in touch with us first. This is a very special time and naturally we’re exhausted, so please plan something with us and expect to be asked to keep your stay short.

In the past month, despite Marti being over 8 months pregnant, we moved house to give ourselves much more room and to be closer to family. The house was much dirtier than ever anticipated and needed a lot of work to get it to be livable, so we’ve spent all of our spare time in the past few weeks painting, fixing, cleaning and arranging. We’re just about there now. Continue reading “Progress report”
We first found out that we were pregnant on August 28th. Between us and our midwife, we had a discrepancy of 3 weeks on how far into the pregnancy we were. So, our midwife encouraged us to get an ultrasound. We only wanted to have one ultrasound during our pregnancy, to find out the sex of the baby, which is ideally done between 16 & 20 weeks. However, the earlier you can get a dating scan, the better, because babies are more uniform in their growth earlier in the pregnancy before their growth starts diverging.
So, today was earlier than we would have normally gone to get a gender scan, but since we had the additional need to get a bit more information on how old the baby was, we went today to try and kill two birds with one stone. Continue reading “Our first look at Jack”
